Exercise :

In the following sketch , we observe a trapezoidal footing. All the dimensions are already given on the sketch.

We need to calculate the volume of the concrete.

The solution is as follows :

• 1. RAFT PORTION: 1 X 3.0 X 3.0 X 0.25 =2.25
• 2. PEDESTAL PORTION; 1 X 1.0 X 1.0 X 2.0= 2.0
• 3. COLUMN PORTION : 1 X 0.3 X 0.3 X 3.0= 0.27
• TRAPEZOIDAL PORTION:
• A1: 1.0 X 1.0 = 1.0
• A2: 3.0 X 3.0 = 9.0
• H: 0.75
• FORMULA:
• VOLUME = H/3 .{A1+A2+ SQRT(A1XA2) }
• =0.75/3.(1.0 + 9.0 +SQRT( 1.0 X9.0)
• =0.0.25(10.0+3.0)= 0.25 X 13=3.25
• 4. TRAPEZOIDAL PORTION: = 3.25

TOTAL : 7.77 CUM

7.77 cuM x 35.29 Cft. = 274 Cft.

274 Cft /100 = 2.74 Brass.
