CRANKED BAR ? SURE….

Dear Readers ,

This is another solved example for the BENT UP bars.

You must have read the earlier post on bent up bars.

There was yet another post on Bent up bars ;

In the following article , you shall find a simplified formula for calculating the cutting length of the bent up bars.

  1. Thank You Sir,But i have Some Doubts in Continous Slab….
    1) in terminate end (one side)Crank length is L/4,What is the other side Crank length of Continous slab

    1. Great question.
Usual practice is to continue the cranked bar upto a distance of L/5 in the other span.
If there are two spans L1 and L2.
The bent up bar from L1 shall extend in the L2 span over the continuous support for a distance of L1/5.
Similarly, the bent up bar from L2 shall extend in the L1 span over the continuous support for a distance of L2/5.

      Hope its clear.
May be we can post an example of this soon.
      Stay connected.

  2. Sir,In a Continous slab, the Crank length of alternate bar(1) in the simply supported end(terminate) is L/4 and Crank length of alternate bar (2) in the continous Support (above mentioned) is L/5..is this correct or not

    1. This is true.
In case of continuous slab , the length of the bar shall be calculated as L/4+BEAM WIDTH +L/5.
That bar shall extend by L/5 in the other span.
Hope this is clear now ?
